Tourist Attractions
London is an international capital and a great place to live
and visit. The huge sprawling metropolis is one of Europe's
most densely populated areas, with over 7 million people (an
eighth of the UK's population) crammed into 1600 sq km.
Millions of visitors flock to London every year to experience
its fantastic architecture, culture, shopping and bustling
nightlife. London has over 30,000 shops, 3800 pubs, 233 nightclubs,
200 museums and more theatres, restaurants and art galleries
than you could shake the proverbial stick at. Apparently there
are 21,000 licensed taxis in London - but don't let that fool
you into believing you'll be able to get one when you need
one.
Westminster
The photos in this section showcase London's architecture
and main tourist attractions. This is the first map, in what
will become a series, which covers most of the major royal
and political architecture which is clustered around St James's
Palace in the borough of Westminster.
Click on a thumbnail image to be taken to more images and
some information that should give you more of a feel for the
history of the building/attraction and its usage. Alternatively,
you may choose from the alphabetical listing of attractions
below. To help you plan your sightseeing, I've provided a
link to a streetmap and listed the nearest tube or rail station.
